Planning a centre for critical care needed now and in the future – the Respite and Training Centre for Excellence – gets Labor support.
CCT is clearly in the pink. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for our home care system. But never fear, CCT has some positive plans to build a Respite and Training Centre for Excellence, which will help future proof respite and care services where there is a gap in care right now.
On Tuesday 22 March 2022, CCT was both delighted and grateful when our plans received support from Ross Hart, Labor Party Bass Federal Election Candidate and Shadow Minister Mark Butler, contributing to the build with a promise of $2.8 million.
As our proposed centre positively benefits the community, it is above politics and deserves bi-partisan support regardless of the results of the forthcoming federal election. Our goal is to alleviate some of the pressures on our health system and we hopefully will receive support for this initiative from the Federal Government as well shortly.
The Aged care and disability sector has a huge shortfall of trained workers, and our proposed Respite and Training Centre for Excellence will address this issue by providing much needed training opportunities for workers, as well as respite beds for needy clients and their unpaid carers.
